How to use Garden Designer

1 · Pick a Layout
Choose a garden template from the top bar — Sunny Border, Shade Garden, Island Bed, Foundation, Cottage, or Rain Garden. Each has realistic dimensions and zone markings.

2 · Choose Plants
Search or filter our 526 plants in the left panel. Filter by light, moisture, and wildlife. Click a plant to select it — its details appear at the bottom of the panel.

3 · Place on the Plan
Click anywhere on the garden canvas to place your selected plant. Each plant is drawn to scale showing its mature spread. Drag any plant to reposition it. Right-click to remove.

4 · Watch for Crowding
When plants' spread circles overlap they'll be flagged as crowded with an orange warning. Drag them apart or choose a smaller plant for that spot.

5 · Get AI Advice
Once you have 2+ plants, click 🤖 Analyse. Our AI acts as a landscape designer — rating your plan and giving specific advice on spacing, seasonal colour, wildlife value, and what to add or remove.

6 · Print & Shop
Click 🖨 Print to generate a landscape-format plan with your full plant list grouped by height zone — with a checkbox column so you can tick off each plant as you shop in-store.
💡 Pro tip: Plants are drawn at their mature spread — they'll look small at first but fill in beautifully over 2–3 seasons. The foot grid helps you visualise real distances. Every 5ft is marked with a longer tick on the edges.
