Dianthus MOUNTAIN FROST 'Ruby Glitter', commonly known as Cheddar Pinks, is a low, mounding perennial that forms tidy cushions of fine, blue-green evergreen foliage. In late spring it covers itself in fringed, ruby-toned flowers with the sweet, spicy fragrance dianthus are loved for. The MOUNTAIN FROST series was bred for strong cold hardiness and heavy flowering, and shearing spent blooms after the first flush often encourages more flowers. The foliage stays attractive through the year, making it a great edging plant. Deer and rabbits tend to leave it alone. Grow it in full sun with well-drained soil and avoid spots that stay wet in winter; it is ideal for borders, rock gardens and containers.
