Rosmarinus officinalis 'Barbeque', commonly known as Rosemary, is a vigorous, strongly upright rosemary named for its long, straight stems that are sturdy enough to use as skewers on the grill. The aromatic, deep green foliage has an excellent, robust flavor for cooking, and blue flowers appear mainly in late winter and spring. It grows into a handsome evergreen shrub or hedge in mild climates and does well in containers. Rosemary loves heat, tolerates drought and is rarely browsed by deer. Plant it in full sun with very well-drained soil, and choose a sheltered spot in colder areas.
