Salvia greggii MIRAGE Burgundy, commonly known as Autumn Sage, is a compact, bushy perennial that produces deep burgundy-red, tubular flowers from late spring until frost. Small, aromatic green leaves cover a woody base, forming a dense, well-branched mound. The MIRAGE series was bred for heavy flowering and a tidy habit, and it thrives in heat and humidity. Hummingbirds are especially fond of the rich red blooms, and butterflies visit too, while deer usually avoid the fragrant foliage. Once established it is quite drought tolerant. Grow it in full sun with sharply drained soil in borders, containers, dry gardens and pollinator plantings.
