Viburnum nudum 'Winterthur', commonly known as Possumhaw Viburnum, is a compact selection of a native shrub valued for its multi-season display. Glossy, dark green leaves cover the plant in summer, and flat clusters of creamy white flowers appear in late spring, attracting pollinators. In late summer and fall the berries ripen from pink to deep blue, often showing both colors at once, and the foliage turns rich shades of red and burgundy. Fruit set is best when another Viburnum nudum selection is planted nearby, and the berries are enjoyed by birds. It tolerates moist and even wet soils. Plant it in full sun to part shade in borders, rain gardens and native hedges.
